A FOOTBALLER is in serious condition after being discovered alive in a morgue, following a prior declaration of death.
Fans of Katsina United were taken aback when Chinedu Ozor collapsed during a pre-season game against Niger Tornadoes.
After evaluating by medical professionals, the defender was initially certified dead.
Doctors were astounded when Ozor moved his hand while resting in the morgue.
The Nigerian player was swiftly transferred to the intensive care unit at Katsina General Hospital, where he is currently on oxygen as medical staff diligently work to stabilize him.
Heartland, a previous club of Ozor’s, voiced their disbelief in an official statement.

The statement read: “Credible sources have confirmed that Chinedu Ozor has been transferred from the morgue to the hospital after reportedly showing signs of life.
“He is currently on oxygen while the medical team works to revive him.”
This surprising update came after an earlier statement from Katsina confirming Ozor’s death.
The announcement conveyed: “We mourn the tragic loss of our newly acquired player Chinedu Ozor following a medical emergency during today’s friendly match against Niger Tornadoes.
“Our thoughts, prayers, and strength are with his family and all loved ones. Rest in peace, Warrior.”
Katsina’s press officer Nasir Gide stated: “Upon arriving at a nearby hospital, he was declared dead by the attending physician.
“We obtained a police report and returned him to Katsina General Hospital, where he was also pronounced dead.”
The Nigeria Premier Football League and Kano Pillars, among Ozor’s former clubs, expressed their condolences after the erroneous announcement of his death.
Rivers United’s general manager Okey Kpalukwu also shared his sympathies as the news reverberated through Nigerian football.
He remarked: “We extend heartfelt condolences to his family, loved ones, and to the management, players, staff, and fans of Katsina United.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Nigerian football community during this trying time.”
Ozor had just completed his transfer to Katsina earlier this month as preparations for the upcoming season began.
