MICHAEL CARRICK has suggested that Manchester United might retain Marcus Rashford.
Rashford, aged 28, was a spectator as United faced Leeds in a pre-season match at Croke Park on Wednesday.
He is anticipated to play in the upcoming match against AC Milan this weekend.
At times, a return to Old Trafford for Rashford seemed doubtful after his loan spell at Barcelona last season and a previous half-season at Aston Villa.
Fortunately, he has been reintegrated into the first-team fold by Carrick, following Barcelona’s decision not to pursue a permanent loan.
After watching his team secure a penalty shootout victory against Leeds following a 1-1 draw in Dublin, the United manager suggested that Rashford could stay for the upcoming season.

Carrick stated: “He’s our player. He’s returned in fantastic shape. He blends well with the rest of the team.
“I’ve known Marcus for a considerable time, and his contribution is crucial to the squad.
“He’s been in great spirits since coming back. He’s trained for two or three days now, and everything feels quite normal, honestly.
“We’re excited about the upcoming season.”

Rashford has netted 138 goals in 426 appearances for United but has not played in a competitive match since December 2024.
It remains uncertain if he will have the opportunity to increase that tally.
United star Noussair Mazraoui was also inquired about Rashford’s future.
He commented: “He could be a significant asset this season. That is, of course, if he doesn’t leave.”
