The FA is contemplating a significant rule amendment following the dispute between Manchester United and Manchester City regarding the venue for this year’s FA Youth Cup final.
Currently, the team drawn first has the right to host the final match.
However, City’s choice to hold last week’s crucial match at the 6,447-seat Joie Stadium, instead of the Etihad, upset United fans and academy personnel.
As stated by the Dailymail, City argued that construction work rendered it impossible to host the game at the Etihad.
United was said to have suggested hosting the match at Old Trafford to give the young players the chance to perform before a larger audience.
Nonetheless, this proposal was declined, and the derby was held at City’s women’s venue, located next to the 53,400-seat Etihad.

The final concluded with City winning 2-1, but the aftermath overshadowed the game itself.
The Manchester United Supporters’ Trust, along with members of the club’s fan forum, strongly denounced the venue decision in a united statement.
They labeled the choice of venue as “a disgrace” and highlighted that 67,000 fans had attended United’s previous Youth Cup final at Old Trafford.
The statement further expressed: “Permitting this crucial match to take place in front of such a limited crowd is a disservice to supporters and denies these young players a momentous night in their careers thus far.”

Currently, reports indicate that FA officials are reassessing the competition regulations to prevent a recurrence of the controversy.
One proposal under consideration is that if the designated hosts are unable to hold the final at their main stadium, the match could be moved to the opposing team’s ground.
United Under-18s manager Darren Fletcher conveyed his displeasure after the match.
The former United player criticized both the venue selection and the overall organization surrounding the event.
Fletcher stated: “I’m disappointed with the FA regarding everything connected to this game, including the venue.”
“Respect should be afforded to the opposition. However, this shouldn’t occur when Man City is dominant in an FA Youth Cup. This is an FA competition; things shouldn’t have unfolded this way.”
He also commented on the pre-match presentation and atmosphere.
Fletcher added: “I’ve never witnessed individual coaches and every single player being acknowledged in such a manner. It’s not typical in cup finals.”
“It felt as if it was a Man City competition leading up to the match.”
“Nevertheless, the best team prevailed; credit to them.”
